GC Session Prayer Seminars

Friday, July 3, 12:15 PM – Esther Knott

Preparing Our Hearts for 40 Days of Prayer: This seminar has two desired outcomes: 1) We will allow God to use His Word to speak to us, revealing anything that would hinder our prayers, and 2) We will enter into 40 days of intentional prayer for personal spiritual growth and in order to reach five people God has laid on our hearts. The seminar will provide time for reflection on God’s Word, along with inspiring steps to becoming a prayerful, contagious Adventist witness for God, wherever He calls you. Esther Ramharacksingh Knott has pastored for 28 years in Illinois, Maryland, and Michigan. She brings a wealth of experience to her role as associate director of NAD Ministerial and director of the InMinistry Center located at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary on the campus of Andrews University. 

Friday, July 3, 5:15 pm – Dan Augsberger

Developing Prayer for Life: This seminar will share wisdom for intensifying your relationship with God through the power of prayer and Bible study.Dan Augsberger is an associate professor at Andrews University. Sunday, July 5, 12:15pm – Frank Hasel

Praying While Waiting for an Answer: Prayer expects answers from God. But what happens when the answer is delayed or not fulfilled? We will look at the dynamics that take place in challenging prayer times and will seek the blessings that God has in store for those who persevere and trust His goodness.Frank M. Hasel, Ph.D., is dean of the theology department at Seminary Schloss Bogenhofen in Austria. Through the experience of losing his wife to cancer in 2009, he is learning to trust God’s promises in ever-new ways.

Sunday, July 5, 5:15 pm – Ivor Myers

He has authored several books, including The Christian Art of War, The Blueprint, and, most recently, The Atheism Prophecy. He and his wife, Atonte, host the 3ABN program Battles of Faith.

Monday, July 6, 12:15 pm– Karen Martell

God Is in the Details, 101: How to Develop a Prayer Ministry in Your Church: Learn how prayer is the most powerful way to experience God. Karen will share tools and demonstrate practical principles that participants can take back to their churches. Learn to develop prayer times that are the most meaningful and powerful element of personal, corporate, and kingdom life. The prayers of God’s people are powerful and effective for transforming lives and relationships and moving mountains. Karen Martell is actively involved in prayer ministry and speaks to audiences across North America. She is the prayer leader for Southeastern California Conference and Pacific Union Conference.

Monday, July 6, 5:15 pm – Cenia and Guillermo Garcia (Spanish Seminar) 

Un Poder que Rompe Cadenas Espirituales: Cuando se trata de arrancar a nuestros amigos y familiares de las garras de Satanás, necesitamos un Poder Espiritual que pueda hacerlo, la Oración Intercesora es la respuesta. Este seminario nos mostrará como ésto es posible.Los esposos Guillermo y Cenia García dirigieron el Ministerio de Oración por mas de 15 años en la Asociación del Sur de California adonde han servido por mas de 30 años. Actualmente ministran pastoreando la iglesia hispana de San Fernando.

Prayer for Area Schools: This seminar will explore ways your church can connect with the community by praying for area schools.Sasha Ross is director of the Women’s Resource Center at La Sierra University in California. Because of her passion and caring for people, she has also worked for World Vision and ADRA to make a positive difference in the world.

Tuesday, July 7, 5:15 pm – Chor-Kiat Sim

Daily Prayer Journaling: This seminar will provide strategies for deepening your connection with God by recording the experiences of His presence and power in your life each day. Chor-Kiat Sim is a chaplain and director of the clinical pastoral education program at Washington Adventist Hospital. He first served as a pastor in Singapore and later served as secretary/treasurer and president of the Singapore Mission. Dr. Sim is also the author of Purposeful Prayers: Finding Joy in the Journey.

Wednesday, July 8, 12:15 pm – Gem Castor

The Need to Abide: In this age of “independence,” God’s people are called to heed His counsel to ABIDE in HIM. This seminar talks about the joy, peace, and other blessings that come through ABIDING. Gem Castor is an itinerant missionary whose passion is to share Christ everywhere, anywhere, in every way possible. He has led out in united prayer sessions in divisions, unions, and conferences during their annual and constituency meetings. Inspired by the life of George Mueller, he has been on multiple mission trips internationally and locally, depending entirely on the Lord’s providence. 

Wednesday, July 8, 5:15 pm – Shanter Alexander

Breaking Chains and Birthing Blessings: Attendees will explore 1) strategies for identifying personal and generational chains that hinder spiritual freedom and 2) practical tips for preparing to receive a new personal and generational covenant of blessing. Shanter H. Alexander is a licensed psychologist who currently lives in Berrien Springs, Michigan, USA. She began her career as an English teacher and school guidance counselor with the St. Lucia Mission of Seventh-day Adventists in the Inter-American Division. Shanter is an anointed speaker/presenter and a woman of prayer.

Thursday, July 9, 12:15 PM – Melody Mason

Daring to Ask for More: Based on her book by the same title, this prayer seminar will challenge and boost your faith as Melody talks about how to take your relationship with God to the next level and go from being a spiritual dwarf to being a spiritual giant, interceding on behalf of others. You won’t be the same!Melody Mason is an author, prayer seminar speaker, leader with ARME Bible Camp Ministries, and coordinator of the 100 Days of Prayer for the world church. 

Thursday, July 9, 5:15 PM – Roy Rugless

Teach Us to Pray: This seminar is designed to teach the fundamental structure of prayer and how it impacts our spirituality. It uses the model of the Lord’s Prayer, which heightens one’s confidence in approaching the throne of God, as well as helping us to become more like Christ. Pastor Roy Rugless is director of prayer ministries for the South Central Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. During his 34 years of ministry, he has pastored many churches, conducted evangelistic series, and won souls for Christ. In 2012, he received the North American Division’s highest departmental award for prayer ministries. Pastor Rugless’ greatest desire is to be saved and be an instrument in God’s hand to save others. 

Friday, July 10, 12:15 pm – Ranela Kaligithi

Powerful Praying in Your Church: This seminar will show you how to transform and encourage your church by nurturing prayer in the life of each member—from the youngest to the oldest.Ruthie Jacobsen is the coordinator of Prayer Ministries for the North American Division. For seven years she hosted a talk show for the weekly program on 3ABN “When God’s People Pray,” where she invited guests to share experiences of God’s faithfulness and answered prayer. She has conducted prayer conferences across North America and in many other countries.
